Act Today to Protect Our Neighborhood Trees
Neighborhood trees at risk
On August 5, crews began cutting down some of the largest sweetgum (Liquidambar) trees in the Kellogg School neighborhood. Trees targeted for removal include:
14 trees on the 5500, 5600, and 5700 blocks of Berkeley Rd
1 tree on Princeton Ave at Berkeley Rd
2 trees on the 5800 block of Stow Canyon Rd
Some trees have already been cut, and more will come down over the next few days unless we speak out. The removal of so many large legacy trees will change our neighborhood vibe, reduce the amount of cool shade on homes and yards, limit bird habitat, and lower our property values.
The city currently has no plans to replace any of the trees.
